![]() ![]() The good news is that The Godfather Part II has many amazing qualities, including fantastic performances from a superb cast, sublime, unprecedented visuals that no one else has been able to capture since, and very engaging stories. It is still a valuable watch and you will definitely be glad you watched it. This movie is open for younger audiences than the original due to the lesser amount of violence and sex, but may be much less engaging than the original. The past parts however are very engaging and enjoyable as we see the classic violence of the first movie with an intriguing and engaging backstory added along, all ending with a present day cap to the past part of the story that will satisfy any viewer.Īs with other epics, the end of the movie is the climax too, with plenty of twists and turns and a saddening death to end the story on a dark and reconciling note. The present-day parts may be very confusing for younger viewers and also very boring as a lot of it is discussion with little engagement. This movie is the longest of the trilogy, and is much more complicated than the first movie - the violence is very consistent and it is indeed all over the place, but not as much as the first movie. Yes, this film is really good, but has much less sex, violence, and action than the first film. These are two masterful films that have an excellent story of corruption and evil. All film-lovers have to see the first two "Godfather" films. ![]() This is a perfect film that completes the story of Michael Corleone. "The Godfather Part II" is my favorite film sequel ever because it completes the first movie so well and makes us understand why the first film is so important. I do prefer the first film because of Marlon Brando's performance. Like the first film, this is a quotable movie. Francis Ford Coppola gives one of the best directing jobs of all time. This is a movie that takes its time to tell a story. "The Godfather Part II" is really violent like its predecessor and it may be even more violent. I also liked when Vito was discussing with Clemenza and Tessio on what to do about Fanucci. One of my favorite scenes in the movie is when Michael is talking to his mother. The costumes felt like it was the late 1950s. The set decoration was absolutely mesmerizing. Gazzo, Lee Strasberg, Diane Keaton, and Talia Shire were excellent as well. John Cazale gave a great performance and made us feel for his character. Robert Duvall was also good in this movie. He only spoke 5 sentences of English and spoke Italian for the rest of the movie. Robert De Niro was also very good in this film. He gave one of the five best performances of all time. I have absolutely no idea how he did not win the Oscar(R) for "Best Actor". Pacino really steps it up from the previous film in the trilogy showing more anger and hatred. Throughout the film, I saw this anger and desire for vengeance eating away at him. Al Pacino gives one of the best performances of all time as Michael Corleone. These two stories parallel each other perfectly. The movie also goes back in time to show a young Vito Corleone and shows his rise to power. "The Godfather Part II" continues the story of Michael Corleone and shows his downfall. It does what any sequel should do: complement the predecessor. "The Godfather Part II" is easily my favorite movie sequel ever. It really is one movie it tells one story. I consider "The Godfather" and "The Godfather Part II" my favorite movie of all time.
